In your dreams

Hello everyone,

welcome to my blog on this misty and murky New Year's Eve. It is Saturday today and that means it is the weekend. At Stampotique we share some of the wonderful word and quote stamps every weekend and I felt like making something ! Of course it is another art journal ! Anyway, hope you like it and Happy New Year !

This is my mini Moleskine journal. It is tiny at 5,5" x 3,5", a great size for quick journals. I started with gesso and then model paste with a stencil by Andy Skinner for DecoArt. I coloured it with watercolour paint. This was just an experiment as I didn't know how it was going to work. In te end it worked ! I stamped the background and splattered some watercolours on it. Next I stamped Cousin Carmine and coloured him/her?, cut him out and adhered him/her on to the page adding washi tape for him/her to stand on. The sentiment was stamped in white card stock and cut out; I added some really light pink to the edges of the paper. And that was it !

I used the following stamps:

and the words we want to emphasize:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Without a smile

Hello everone,

and welcome to this blogpost for UmWow Studio at the end of this year ! Hasn't it gone fast !

For today I have made a tag:

And here is what I did with the chipboard:

I decided to use pattern paper and embossing powder to embellish my chipboard today.

I put some masking tape on the bottom and the top because I wanted to paint the 'skirt' bit with gesso. I wanted to use embossing powder on this part and because it is really light blue, I thought it might not show it's real colour if I put it on the dark brown chipboard. I didn't want any gesso on the bottom 'stand' though... (I could've left of the tape off the top).

After approx. 3 layers of embossing powder it looked like this.

Next I cut a piece of pattern paper in the shape of the 'bodice' and glued it on. I added some shading with a marker.

The foot and top of the piece were coloured with a dark brown marker. I think it turned out nice.

So for the tag I cut a #8 tag from white card stock and glued some book paper to it. I added white gesso and light blue paint and some rub ons...
Some lines along the edges and a ribbon finished it off...

I have used this chipboard today :

A wonderful Christmas

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my last blogpost for Katzelkraft. I have been on the team for almost 2 years and I think it is time to move on ! I would like to thank BĂ©atrice for her generosity while I was on the team ! And you never know, our paths might cross again sometime !
So, for this post I made a Christmas card:

I painted the card panel with acrylic paint and then embossed the clock face on it. I also stamped some script on it. I doodled around the edge with a black pen.
I stamped the Zebra and coloured him with Copic Markers; I cut off his top hat and replaced it with a Christmas hat which I also coloured with Copics.
The sentiment is made out of two sentiments: "A wonderful world" and "Keep calm and wait for Christmas".  This is a great way to stretch your stamps. Sometimes you can just make a sentiment by putting bits of other sentiments together.
I adhered everything on my panel and then adhered the panel to a white card.
That was it.

I used the following stamps :

KTZ159  - for the word 'christmas'
KTZ30.01 - Clockface
KTZ141 - for the Zebra
KTZ142 - for the script
KTZ119 - for the hat
KTZ139 - for the words 'a wonderful'

Comfortzone

Hello everyone,

It is 'WordUp Weekend' at Stampotique. This is an event where we share some of the best quote and word stamps. I chose one by France Papillon this week.
As a main image I chose the flamingo by Jo Capper-Sandon; I seem a little obsessed with this stamp at the moment....

For the background I used Lindy's Stampgang Sprays and then stencilled the letter over the top with similar colours Art Anthology Sorbet paints. They are a little thicker and have a little sparkle in them. Very pretty.. Next I used an old creditcard and white paint to add some lines.
I also used some white embossing powder to create the circles.
Flamingo was stamped on watercolour paper and on the page. I coloured him with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and a water brush, cut him out and adhered him to the one on the page.
The text I chose is by France Papillon, I stamped it, cut it out, coloured the edges and adhered them to the page.

Hello everyone,

I have a post for VivaLasVegaStamps! today and I have made a trio of ATC's. I filmed the process too so hop over if you are interested; there's a link at the bottom of this post.

I was going to ask you if you want me to make YouTube tutorials as I don't have many subscribers or views... I have been going for a little while now but get the impression that not many people are actually interested. If you have an opinion I would love to 'hear' it in the comments.

Here they are together....

A freaky little thing

Hello everyone,

I had a little play this afternoon and made a small art journal page just for fun.

The base has crackle paint, Lindy's spray inks and Art Anthology sorbet paints on it... I then stencilled with white paint and stamped randomly. All stamps I used are by VivaLasVegaStamps! by the way. You'll find all 20.000+ HERE

The stars were stamped on book pages, cut out and adhered to the page. I used the edge of the page to stamp the sentiment on.
The little girl (is it a girl??? lol) was stamped on water colour paper and I coloured her with my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and a water brush. I adhered her on the page after I stamped her there as well and added some washi tape for her to stand on.

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

I will be back tomorrow with a trio of ATC's and a new VIDEO ! yay !

Happy Holidays

Hello everyone,

and Merry Christmas ! Welcome to our Christmas Challenge over at Stampotique !Yes that's the theme for the rest of this month ! Why not play along with us and you might win one of two $30 vouchers at the end of the month. Just make sure to read the rules on the SDC blog.
Here's my contribution:

This simple card was very easy to make.
I stamped the penguins on a piece of watercolour paper, cut slightly smaller than the card I was going to use. I used my Zig Clean Color watercolour markers and a water brush to colour them in and to add colour underneath them. Next I stamped the stars with Distress ink (Tumbled Glass) and added the sentiment on top.
The panel was then glued onto a blue card.

I used the following stamps:

Real gentlemen

Hello everyone,

I made this art journal yesterday as it was a rather dark and dull Sunday here. I've used my PaperArtsy goodies for this one.

I painted the pages with green and turquoise Fresco Paints and then added white with a baby wipe over the top, concentrating on the edges of the pages. I also stamped the rings with the same white paint. I added some more stamping with Archival Inks and then stamped the gentlemen on separate paper, this was blank book paper and also on the pages. I coloured out the text in the stamp and then restamped and cut it out to use separately on the page. (The stamp of the gentlemen is much bigger and the text is actually inside the black of their jackets; I just cut out the middle and only used the right and left side of the stamp.
I have used three different sets for this I think..

Anyway that was about it !

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Be gentle with yourself

Hello everyone,

It is time for another post for UmWow Studio today ! I really enjoy doing these projects as they are so different from anything else I do. Today I did a little tiny canvas. It is only about 3" x 3" or 10 cm x 10 cm. And here it is :

And here's how I made it:

I decided to heat emboss my flourish with copper embossing powder. I did change my mind in the end and heat embossed over the top with gold powder.

I embossed it about three times, so the layer of embossing on the flourish was really thick. I reheated it to make it soft again and then dropped some micro beads in the wet/soft embossing.

This is how it looks after I dropped the microbeads in. Cool huh ? I also added some gold paint here and there later but didn't take pictures. You can see the effect in the finished canvas.

For the canvas I applied crackle paste and coloured it with light yellow and burnt umber paints.. using some glazing fluid so it stayed wet longer and I could wipe most of it off again..

This is the result of both paints. I then added some stamping. You can see it in the end photos.
All stamps I used are by VivaLasVegaStamps!

Here are a few close ups of the flourish..

Apart from the canvas and the flourish, I used an original old photo which I found in an antique market. I am always on the lookout for stuff like this. I also used some music paper and some lace. The frame is from a cheap set of resin frames from the Dollar store which I painted and then used the same gold embossing powder over the top.

I used this chipboard today :

I love how grumpy he looks.

I have used the following stamps for this card:

KTZ159 - for the background rings with stars and the sentiment

Stampotique Designers' Challenge #262 - Naughty or Nice

Hello everyone,

and welcome to week 2 of our 'Naughty or Nice' challenge here at Stampotique ! I have made a tag for this week but you could make anything you want if you decide to play along. You could win one of two $30 vouchers at the end of the month. Just make sure to read the rules...

He looks rather naughty, doesn't he? I started with gluing the snowflakes onto the tag. These die cut snowflakes were a gift from Mischelle Smith in a swap ! Thank you Mischelle.
After drying I painted the whole thing with gesso and then coloured the tag with Distress Crayons. Next I took a baby wipe and wiped most of it off again. Because the snowflakes are raised the colour stays put in the lower parts and you get a nice contrast.
I then painted gel medium over the top. You have to be quick and not go over to many times as the gel medium will move the crayons. After that dried I added some dark blue on the edges. I used a Neocolor II Crayon for this. I stamped Smile, coloured him with Copic Markers, cut him out and glued him to the tag. I gave him a Christmas hat and then stamped the sentiment, cut it apart, coloured the strips with a Copic marker and the Neocolor Crayon and adhered it to the tag too.
A ribbon finished it off.

I have used these stamps:

Merry Christmas

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I have made an art journal page for Visible Image.
As it is almost Christmas I thought I take that as my theme for today's page.

I love this "Angel" stamp. She is very versatile.
Anyway, I started off with a piece of white card stock and heat embossed the snowflakes with white powder. I then coloured the page with Distress Inks. I used 'tumbled glass', 'broken china', 'faded jeans', 'chipped saphire' and a tiny bit of 'dusty concord'. Next I dripped some water over it so you get the light spots. I then stamped the sentiment 'merry christmas' around the edge, using it as it is but also just the single words..
It was then time for the angel. I stamped her on tissue paper and adhered her to the page with gel medium. Luckily this worked out fine as of course the distress inks are water soluble and it could have smeared with the gel medium but it didn't... I was very careful though.
I added some rhinestones to the white dots in her dress and added some white pen to the very small dots and between the feathers of her wings.

Here are some details photo's:

I used the following stamps:

That was it !

Winter Wishes

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my post today. There is a new Challenge on the blog  over at VivaLasVegaStamps! and today's post is a bit of inspiration for you. I hope you all play along with our Challenge this month. I have made a tag:

I coloured the tag (#8 shipping tag) with acrylic paints and then white embossed the stars. I took it to my sewing machine to create a border around the tag. I also distressed the edges.
Next I stamped the house, the star (this was stamped with paint) and the sentiment and scallops.
I coloured the house with Copics, cut it out and also cut out the star, the sentiment and the scallop.
Everything was then adhered to the tag. Lastly I stamped the dots at the bottom and added a piece of ribbon.

It is based on this moodboard for December:

The words to go with it are : frame, scallops, doodle, vintage, teal, gray, tan, white, black, Christmas, trees, winter, snowman, squirrel, snow angels, victorian, house, scenery, road, snowbanks.

I think I got quite a few of those words in my tag.

I have used the following stamps for my tag:

Happy Camper here

Hello everyone,

Today is the 1st of December and that means it is my turn on Roc's blog. I have used one of my gelli printed backgrounds for this art journal page.

I stamped the flourish on the left and white embossed it. I filled in some of it with a white pen. Next I added the book text along the bottom for Horse to stand on. I also adhered half a doily which was lying around on my desk.
Next I stamped the Horse, the wings and the sign. The sigh was altered by me. Normally it says "Art lives here". So I masked off the Art Lives and replaced it with part of another stamp which says "I am a happy camper". I think it is great to mix and match up stamps for your purpose..
I coloured everything and then cut all the images out. I adhered the wings to the horse.
I then adhered the horse and the sign to the page. Job done !

I have used the following stamps:

Let's get lost...

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blogpost for UmWow Studio.  I had fun making this little wall hanging.

I used the "Layered Chevrons" for this but I used them un-layered and grouped them in the middle of my panel.

Here are a few close ups...

Apart from the Chipboards, I used some paper flowers, modelling paste, scraps of fabric, brads, micro beads and rubber stamps by VivaLasVegaStamps!

The lace bow was added as an afterthought, but I think it looks nice.

Here is a close up of the chipboards I have used. How I got them to look like this ? Click on the link to YouTube underneath and I will show you !

I did add some stamping after I adhered them onto my panel. I didn't film this.

And here is is again, I like how it turned out.

I have used :

Layered Chevrons

I hope you enjoyed your visit today !

Until next time !
